Do I need a 4x4 to drive in Rwanda?

For Kigali and main highways, a 2WD is sufficient. For national parks, Nyungwe Forest mountain roads, Congo-Nile Trail, or areas with unpaved access roads, a 4x4 is strongly recommended — and often required.

What is the fuel type for your 4x4 vehicles?

The Land Cruiser V8, Prado TXL, and Hilux are diesel. The Toyota RAV4 is available in both petrol and diesel variants. Diesel fuel is widely available across Rwanda at all major towns.

Can I take a 4x4 rental across borders from Rwanda?
