Welcome to carrentalinkigali.com (operated by "Kigali Car Rental" / "Rent Cars Kigali", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using our website and rental services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully before booking any vehicle — whether you rent a Toyota RAV4, Land Cruiser V8, or economy sedan for self-drive or chauffeur service across Kigali, Kigali Airport, Musanze, or other Rwandan destinations.

1. Rental agreement & eligibility

To rent a car from us, you must meet the following requirements:

Minimum age: 23 years (25 years for Land Cruiser V8 / premium SUVs).
Valid driving licence held for at least 2 years (International Driving Permit recommended if licence is not in English).
Valid passport or national ID for identification.
A refundable security deposit (varies by vehicle: $100–$500) is required at pickup.

We reserve the right to refuse any rental based on driving history, documentation, or availability.

2. Booking, payment & cancellation

Reservations: Bookings can be made via WhatsApp, phone, or our website. A verbal or written confirmation is binding.
Payment: Full rental payment is due before vehicle handover. We accept cash (RWF/USD), MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, and bank transfer. For card payments, we accept Visa and Mastercard from anywhere in the world through our secure online payment gateway.
Cancellation policy: Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup. Within 48 hours, a 30% fee applies. No-show fee equals one day's rental.
Deposit: The deposit is refunded within 24 hours after vehicle return, provided no damage, fuel discrepancy, or traffic fines.

     Important for self-drive clients: All rental vehicles include comprehensive insurance (CDW) with an excess liability. The excess amount (deductible) ranges from $300–$800 depending on the car category. Any damage below the excess is paid by the renter. We strongly recommend reviewing the vehicle condition report before departure.
  

3. Driver obligations & traffic rules

When you rent a car from us, you agree to:

Drive only on designated roads and respect Rwandan traffic laws (speed limits: 60km/h town, 80km/h highway).
Wear seatbelts at all times. No mobile phone use while driving.
Not drive under the influence of alcohol/drugs. Zero tolerance — legal limit 0.0 BAC.
Not cross borders into neighbouring countries unless explicitly authorised in writing (extra insurance required).
Return the car with the same fuel level as at pickup (full-to-full policy).

Any traffic fines, parking tickets, or towing costs incurred during the rental period are the sole responsibility of the renter. A 15% administration fee will be added for processing any fines charged to us.

4. Vehicle use, prohibited activities & damage

The rental vehicle shall not be used:

For illegal activities, races, or off-road driving outside designated tracks (e.g., non-approved mountain trails).
By any driver not listed on the rental agreement.
To transport more passengers than the vehicle capacity or to carry hazardous materials.
On unpaved roads that are unsuitable for the specific vehicle (e.g., sedans on volcanic tracks). Our 4x4 fleet (RAV4, Prado, Land Cruiser) may be used on common safari/game tracks, but we recommend expert guidance for extreme terrain.

Damage/loss: You are financially responsible for any damage, theft, or total loss up to the full value of the vehicle, unless covered by the CDW insurance (subject to excess). We strongly advise taking our "Super Cover" which reduces excess to zero for a small daily fee.

5. Airport delivery & fuel policy

We offer free delivery to Kigali International Airport (KGL) and anywhere inside Kigali city. For locations outside Kigali (Musanze, Gisenyi, Nyungwe) a delivery fee may apply. The vehicle will be handed over with a full tank and must be returned full. Otherwise, refuelling costs plus a service charge of $15 will be deducted from the deposit.

6. Liability & limitation of warranty

Our vehicles are maintained to high safety standards. However, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses such as trip delays, missed flights, or lost personal belongings. In the event of a breakdown due to mechanical failure, we will provide roadside assistance and replace the vehicle if possible, but no refunds for unused rental days. We are not responsible for items left inside the car — always double-check before returning.

7. Privacy and data usage

By using our services, you acknowledge that we collect and process personal data (name, licence, contact details) as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your information to third parties. We may share limited data with local authorities if required (e.g., traffic violations).

8. Modifications & termination

We may update these Terms at any time. The latest version will be posted on this page. If you continue to use our services after changes, you accept the new terms. We reserve the right to terminate any rental agreement immediately if you breach any condition (e.g., unauthorised driver, illegal use).
