One Way Car Rental in Kigali — How It Works
One-way car rental means you pick up your vehicle in one location and drop it off in another. For Rwanda, this is especially useful if you are flying into Kigali but leaving from a different entry point — or if you are doing a one-direction road trip and do not want to drive back the same route.

How Much Does One Way Car Rental Cost?
For in-Rwanda one-way routes, a drop-off fee of $30–$60 applies depending on the distance between pickup and drop-off locations. For cross-border one-way (Rwanda to Uganda), additional cross-border permit fees apply — typically $50–$80.
The daily rental rate stays the same — only the one-way drop-off fee is added.

Many East Africa visitors fly into Kigali, drive north to Volcanoes National Park for gorilla trekking, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda, then fly home from Entebbe. With a one-way cross-border rental, this entire journey is done in one vehicle with no backtracking.
- Day 1: Pick up car at Kigali airport
- Day 2–3: Gorilla trekking at Volcanoes NP
- Day 4: Drive to Bwindi via Cyanika border

What You Need for a One Way Rental
- Book at least 72 hours in advance — one-way vehicles require coordination
- For cross-border: valid passport, cross-border permit arranged by us, COMESA insurance
- Standard rental documents — license, passport, deposit
