Kigali International Airport (KGL) is one of Africa's most efficient and pleasant airports. Immigration is usually fast, the terminal is clean and modern, and the whole process from landing to exiting arrivals can take as little as 20 minutes if you're prepared.
Here's everything you need to know — including how to collect your airport car rental in Kigali.
Immigration at KGL
Citizens of most African countries can enter Rwanda visa-free. For visitors from elsewhere, a visa on arrival is available for $50 USD, or you can apply online in advance at irembo.gov.rw. The East Africa Tourist Visa ($100) is excellent value if you're also visiting Uganda or Kenya.
Collecting Your Rental Car
If you've booked with us in advance, our driver will be waiting in the arrivals hall with your name on a sign. They'll take you to the vehicle, do a quick walk-around inspection, and you'll be driving within 10–15 minutes of clearing customs.
Getting Money
There are ATMs inside arrivals and in the terminal. USD and Euros can be exchanged at the bureau de change in arrivals. Most hotels, supermarkets and modern restaurants accept Visa cards.
Getting a SIM Card
MTN and Airtel Rwanda both have SIM card desks in the arrivals hall. Data is inexpensive and coverage is excellent across Rwanda. Register with your passport.
First Stop After the Airport
Most travelers head to Kigali city center (20 minutes in normal traffic) or directly toward whichever national park is first on their itinerary. Our drivers know every route.
Arriving soon? Book your airport car rental now and we'll handle the rest.
