Kigali Car Rental Insurance — What's Covered and What You Need to Know

When we say our Kigali car rentals include full insurance, we mean it — but let's be clear about exactly what that means, because insurance is one area where surprises are never welcome.

What's Included in Every Rental

  • Third-party liability — Covers damage or injury to other people and their property in an accident
  • Collision damage waiver (CDW) — Reduces your financial liability for damage to our vehicle in a collision
  • Theft protection — Covers vehicle theft (subject to proper security — i.e., always lock the car)
  • Roadside assistance — Breakdown, flat tyre, dead battery — we come to you, anywhere in Rwanda

What's Not Covered

  • Damage caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Damage to tyres and rims from potholes (charged at replacement cost)
  • Interior damage caused by the renter
  • Loss of personal items left in the vehicle

Your Excess (Deductible)

In the event of a chargeable incident, a standard excess applies. The exact amount depends on the vehicle — we explain this fully at the time of booking. There are no nasty surprises.

Is Additional Travel Insurance Worth It?

If you have travel insurance that includes rental car coverage, bring your policy documents. This may reduce or eliminate your excess liability. We work with all major travel insurers.
