Getting There

Akagera is ~2 hours east of Kigali via the Kayonza–Rusumo road. The main gate (South Gate) is at Nyagatare. We recommend departing Kigali by 7am to maximise your morning game drive. A full-day trip is possible but an overnight stay in the park gives you the best wildlife sightings at dawn and dusk.
